Suggestions for Raising Godly Children:

 

  1. Put God first in your life.

Proverbs 3:5-8: 5. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; 6. in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.

7. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and depart from evil.

  1. It will be health to your flesh, and strength to your bones.

Matthew 6:33-34: 33. "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. 34. "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

Proverbs 22:6: 6. Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will

not depart from it.

  1. Practice what you preach.

James 1:5-8: 5. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. 6.But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. 7. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord;

  1. he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

Deuteronomy 11:13-21: 13. `And it shall be that if you diligently obey My

commandments which I command you today, to love the Lord your God and serve Him

with all your heart and with all your soul, 14.`then I will give you the rain for your land

in its season, the early rain and the latter rain, that you may gather in your grain, your

new wine, and your oil. 15.And I will send grass in your fields for your livestock, that

you may eat and be filled.' 16."Take heed to yourselves, lest your heart be deceived,

and you turn aside and serve other gods and worship them, 17.lest the Lord's anger be

aroused against you, and He shut up the heavens so that there be no rain, and the land

yield no produce, and you perish quickly from the good land which the Lord is giving

you. 8. "Therefore you shall lay up these words of mine in your heart and in your soul,

and bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.

19. "You shall teach them to your children, speaking of them when you sit in your

house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.

20. "And you shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates,

21. "that your days and the days of your children may be multiplied in the land of

which the Lord swore to your fathers to give them, like the days of the heavens above

the earth. endures all things.

Psalms 1:1-3: 1. Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor

stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; 2. But his delight is in

the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night. 3. He shall be like a

tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf

also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.

  1. Walk in love:
  2. 1 Corinthians 13:4-8a: Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not

    parade itself, is not puffed up; 5.does not behave rudely, does not seek its own,

    is not provoked, thinks no evil; 6.does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth;

    7. bears all things, believes all things , hopes all things, endures all things. 8.Love

    never fails.

  3. Discipline wisely:
  4. Proverbs 8:32-33: 32. "Now therefore, listen to me, my children, for blessed are those

    who keep my ways. 33.Hear instruction and be wise, and do not disdain it.

    Ephesians 6:4: 4. And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.

    Proverbs 29:15,17: 15. The rod and reproof give wisdom, but a child left to himself brings shame to his mother. 7 Correct your son, and he will give you rest; yes, he will give delight to your soul.

  5. Stay involved in your children’s life.

Psalms 127:3-5: 3. Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, The fruit of the womb is His reward. 4. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, So are the children of one's youth. 5. Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them; They shall not be ashamed, But shall speak with their enemies in the gate.

Luke 2:51: 51. Then He (Jesus) went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was subject to them, but His mother kept all these things in her heart.

Proverbs 29:15: 15. The rod and reproof give wisdom, but a child left to himself brings shame to his mother.
